Course Objectives
This course is designed for individuals working on a full-time, part-time or voluntary basis as assistants in a range of early childhood settings. These settings may include long day care centres, pre-school centres and occasional care centres. The course enables students to develop their knowledge and understanding of early childhood development. The course prepares workers to use organisational policies, procedures and individual children's profiles to plan activities and provide care to children, facilitating their leisure and play and enabling them to achieve their developmental outcomes. Workers at this level are required to have an understanding of Indigenous culture and history and to work with local communities in the provision of services.
