Course Objectives

  1. Provide students with the principles and practices, knowledge and attributes of a Logistic professional required in the increasingly complex global business environment.
  2. Develop the knowledge and skills in the development and operation of integrated logistics, supply management, warehousing, inventory, transport and sustainable business relationships in an international business environment.
  3. To understand the impact of logistics functions and their integration with other business functions.
  4. To assess, monitor and maintain quality systems in logistic through the effective use of information technology, human resources and accounting processes.
  5. Enable students to research, critique and evaluate the implementation of cost effective solutions to assist enterprises enhance their competitive advantage.
  6. Develop independent and academic learning skills, thereby facilitating graduates ongoing professional development, including further study at undergraduate or postgraduate level.

Fourteen units of study delivered by the VE sector and eight units of study delivered by the HE sector with 192 credit points.

What's a unit?

A unit or 'subject' is the actual class you'll attend in the process of completing a course.

Most courses have a mixture of compulsory 'core' units that you need to take, and optional 'elective' units that you can choose to take based on your area of interest, expertise or experience.

Credits

Each unit is worth a set amount of study credits based on the amount of time you study. Generally, 1 credit is equal to 1 hour of study per week.

Admission Information

  • TAFE:

    This Award is designed for people who are seeking a course of study to support their career development into a Logistics management, analysis or business development role in industry or the Logistics services sector.

    There will be two entry paths into the Associate Degree in Logistics:

    1 Direct entry into the Associate Degree will require successful completion of year 12 with a relevant ENTER score or its equivalent and demonstrate through an interview, the learning and professional capabilities to complete the course. Selection will be through the Faculty processes.

    2 The Pathway entry to the Associate Degree in Logistics is from the Diploma of Logistics and will be open to graduates of the Diploma that have achieved acceptable grades and be currently employed in an aspect of Logistics, with employer support for the study requirements of the Associate degree.

    Applicants for the part time Diploma will also need to demonstrate recent work in a logistics role for at least two years equivalent full-time.

    The Diploma can be studied at any member institute of the Supply Chain Learning Network.

  • Year 12:

  • International: In addition to satisfying the entry requirements for Australian resident students or demonstrating equivalence, overseas students must provide evidence of proficiency in the English language:International English Language Testing System - overall score of 6 and no individual band score less than 6.0.
  • Mature: >Students with demonstrated work experience may undertake a Recognition of Prior Learning assessment prior to commencing the Associate Degree. A maximum of 50% of the content i.e. the equivalent to 96 credit points may be granted as credit through RPL in accordance with the University Learning Pathways and Qualifications Linkages Pathway Policy (POA070214000)
  • Other: There are no other special admission requirements.

Students with demonstrated work experience may undertake a Recognition of Prior Learning assessment prior to commencing the Associate Degree.
