TAFE & undergraduate courses
There are two main ways to apply for courses at Victoria University (VU): applying directly to VU, or applying through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC).
On this page
Each course page has a section on 'How to apply" for that course. The course page will advise if you must apply through VTAC, via Direct Application (or in the case of some courses, by either method).
Check the course page itself for up to date information. Each course page includes closing dates for applications. The dates may change depending if a course is full or still accepting applications.
Applying directly to VU
Every course page has a section on 'How to apply" for that particular course. Choose your course and then see how you can apply for that course.
To find out if you can apply directly to VU for a TAFE or Undergraduate course you want to study, check the course page.
Course indexes
You can also use these course indexes (a table of all courses that are open for applications). Look in the course index that applies for the kinds of courses you want to study, and look for courses marked "Direct" or "ongoing":
Direct entry process and forms
When you're ready to apply, you need to:
- Read the Advice to applicants (contains details about how to apply for your course, extra requirements, what happens when you submit your application and other important information).
- Complete and submit a direct entry application form by the relevant closing date listed on the course page or in the course index.
- As part of your application you may also be required to complete any extra requirements (see below) or complete supplementary forms (eg. special consideration, community reference forms).
If you are a currently enrolled VU student and wish to transfer to another course at VU, there's a special process for transferring within VU.
Transferring within VU
If you are currently enrolled in a course at VU and you want to apply for a different course with us:
- complete an internal course application form and
- submit the form by the closing date listed on the course page or in the relevant course index.
For more information about internal course applications (including minimum entry requirements) please contact the relevant college (previously called faculty).
As part of your application you may also be required to complete any extra requirements (see below) or complete supplementary forms (eg. special consideration, community reference forms, referee reports).
Extra requirements
As part of your application you may be required to complete extra requirements such as:
- submitting supplementary forms
- attending an interview, audition, information session and/or workshop
- submitting a folio, or
- undertaking a test.
You are responsible for ensuring that you complete all extra requirements by the prescribed dates, otherwise your application may not be considered.
Details about extra requirements are available on the courses webpage, in the VTAC Guide, or from relevant colleges.
Applying through VTAC
VTAC is the organisation that processes course applications on behalf of universities in Victoria.
VTAC applications for Semester 1 2013 opened on Monday 6 August 2012. For information about courses available and how to apply, please see the VTAC website.
For more information on VU's West+5 Scheme and the VTAC Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS), please see Access & equal opportunity.
