This one year course leads to study in other Faculty of Health, Engineering and Science courses. It is ideal if you have never studied science before. However, there is an accelerated program for those who have. 

You will  develop the knowledge and skills to succeed in courses such as:

  • health sciences (nursing, paramedics, midwifery)
  • engineering (electrical and electronic, mechanical, civil, architectural)
  • science (biomedical, nutritional therapy, biotechnology, forensics)
  • education
  • psychology and science
  • human movement and exercise
  • double degrees in science or engineering and arts or law

Areas of study

If you intend to study a course in engineering, computer science, applied physics, or mathematics after the Foundations Studies you are advised to undertake:

  • physics
  • information technology / information systems
  • mathematics for engineering
  • English language and communications skills

If you intend to study a course in science, health science or education after Foundations Studies you are advised to undertake:

  • human physiology
  • psychology
  • chemistry
  • mathematics for science
  • biology
  • physics
  • other arts units offered by the University

Course advisors can help you select units that lead to specific courses in the Faculty of Health, Education and Science.
