Current scholarship holders are advised to read this page to keep up to date with eligibility requirements and advice on what you should do if your circumstances change.
Before each payment, we will send a renewal letter to you asking for confirmation of your enrolment status, income situation and other eligibility details. Check that your mailing address details are correctly recorded in the student enrolment system. Make sure that you return your declaration by the specified date.
Commonwealth scholarships (Education Cost-CECS and Accommodation-CAS) are paid twice per year so we will write to you each semester, then check your enrolment and eligibility at census date each semester (31 March and 31 August). Payments cannot be made until after the census date checks have been completed. Payments are sent to your bank account in late April and September each year.
For scholarships with only one payment each year (VU Access), your first payment will be made within one month of receipt of your declaration of eligibility. Renewal payments for second and subsequent years are paid into your bank account between February and April each year.
The following scholarships have ongoing eligibility requirements. Please check the information available here to ensure you remain eligible for payment each year.
VU Access Scholarships - VU HE Access Ongoing Eligibility and VU TAFE Access Ongoing Eligibility
When the payment has been sent to your bank account, you will receive an email to confirm that payment has been made. This is sent to your VU student email so please make sure you read your student email on a regular basis.
If your bank account has changed, please fill out a new banking details form and return it to the Scholarships Office by mail, hand delivery, fax or email as indicated on the form.
Please contact the Scholarships Office by phone +61 3 9919 5568 or email scholarships@vu.edu.au immediately to notify any of the following changes in your circumstances:
If at any time you think you may no longer be eligible for your scholarship please contact the Scholarships Office by phone +61 3 9919 5568 or email scholarships@vu.edu.au to discuss whether you are still eligible.
We encourage you to apply for a more valuable scholarship than the one you already hold. This could be a Commonwealth scholarship through Centrelink, another scholarship at VU or a scholarship funded by an external organisation.
If you are successful in applying for another VU scholarship, you will be asked to relinquish the scholarship of lesser value. If another scholarship is awarded to you on the basis of academic success, or from an external organisation, you may be able to hold both scholarships, but we will ask to assess the effect on your income.
If you are granted a Commonwealth scholarship from Centrelink and you are in receipt of a VU Access scholarship, your VU Access scholarship will be discontinued.
Current scholarship holders should also refer to FAQs on scholarships for more information about scholarship payments and conditions as well as income and tax matters.
