When you enrol in a course, it is a good idea to understand what enrolment fees are involved.
We can assist you in several ways if you are having problems paying the required fees.
When you enrol, re-enrol or make an amendment to your enrolment, you will receive an invoice with the amount you are required to pay. You should make sure that your enrolment, fee and personal details are correct. You will need to meet various fee deadlines. Please be aware that if you don't meet these deadlines you may be fined.
As a TAFE student, the fee you pay depends on your citizenship status, when you commence the course, your age, your prior qualifications and the units and courses that you study.
If you are currently enrolled in a TAFE course, your fees and concession entitlement will not change provided you undertake continuous study in the same course without an un-approved break. Your fees will be maintained until 31 December 2012 or until the course is completed (whichever occurs earlier).
If you are a New Zealand Citizen, you are now eligible for government funded training as long as you meet the eligibility criteria.
Vocational Education/Further Education (TAFE) courses fit into one of five course categories:
The fee you pay is aligned to the course category. The following table demonstrates how government funded Vocational Education/Further Education fees are calculated:
| COURSE CATEGORY | FEE PER STUDENT CONTACT HOUR | MINIMUM FEE | CONCESSION FEE* | MAXIMUM FEE |
| Foundation | $1.08 | $50 | $50 | $500 |
| Skills creation | $1.40 | $105 | $105 | $875 |
| Apprenticeships and Traineeships | $1.37 | $57 | $57 | $903 |
| Skills building | $1.62 | $120 | $120 | $1000 |
| Skills deepening | $3.25 | $225 | N/A | $2000 |
|
* You may be eligible for a reduced fee at the time of enrolment if you hold a valid concession card. Make sure you present the card at the time of your enrolment. Download the list of eligible concession cards to ensure your concession card is eligible. Concessions are no longer applicable at the Skills Deepening level, however indigenous students may be charged the minimum rate. |
