Become a visual artist by studying a full range of classical and contemporary techniques in painting and drawing.

Practising artists teach this course and visiting speakers give talks on their work. Your studies will also include gallery visits.

In the second year of this Diploma you are given your own studio space, providing an excellent opportunity for the developing artist.

The 2188VIC Diploma of Visual Art will provide training in drawing, specialised creative and skill areas, OHS, sustainable practices, management, marketing and working with others.

To be eligible to receive the Diploma of Visual Art, participants must successfully complete 22 units consisting of: 9 Core Units, 5 Units from the Painting stream specialisation and additional Units from the Elective Units.

A unit or 'subject' is the actual class you'll attend in the process of completing a course.

Most courses have a mixture of compulsory 'core' units that you need to take, and optional 'elective' units that you can choose to take based on your area of interest, expertise or experience.

  • TAFE: Not Applicable
  • Year 12: To qualify for entry to the course, applicants must have successfully completed an approved course of study at Year 12 level or equivalent
  • International: IELTS 5.5
  • Mature: To qualify for entry to the course, applicants must have successfully completed an approved course of study at Year 12 level or equivalent

  2. Submit a TAFE Direct Entry Application form
  3. As part of the application you may need to complete extra requirements such as:
    • submit supplementary forms
    • attend an interview, audition, information session or workshop
    • submit a folio
    • sit a test

    Details about extra requirements are available from the Faculty of Workforce Development.

    You need to complete all extra requirements by the given dates, otherwise your application may not be considered.
