CS4 Photoshop Fundamentals

Learn to use one of the most powerful and multipurpose photo manipulation programs. Photoshop is used for anything from simple photo retouching to creating image ready files for use on the Internet, through to use in major motion pictures.

In this introductory course you will learn skills including navigating the Photoshop interface and scanning and importing pictures.

About the teacher

John Nickless is a practising graphic designer/illustrator who has experience in the graphic arts industry with over 25 years overseeing his business as well as focusing on the digital revolution for the last 15 years. His teaching over the last 10 years has led to him broadening his knowledge and experience of the increasing changes to digital imaging.

In this introductory, short course you will learn:

A brief introduction to working on Macintosh Computing Platform
The mechanics, tools and features of Photoshop CS4
Introduction to Raster Graphic knowledge, the basis for Photoshop.
How to navigate and utilise the Photoshop interface, including the application tools, pen tool, layers, special effects, colours
Creating a document in Photoshop, scanning and importing pictures ready for manipulation
In-class exercises to learn the specifics of Photoshop
