Course Objectives

The aim of the qualification is to train plumbers who wish to operate as a self employed licensed plumber. It also provides a National qualification. In addition the course addresses Victorian licensing requirements.

Fire services stream 15 units of competency are required for award of this qualification: - 8 compulsory units - 7 elective units Air conditioning and mechanical services stream 15 units of competency are required for award of this qualification: - 8 compulsory units - 7 elective units Plumbing and services - Management stream 15 units of competency are required for award of this qualification: - 10 compulsory units - 5 elective units Plumbing and services - Operations stream 15 units of competency are required for award of this qualification: - 12 compulsory units - 3 elective units

What's a unit?

A unit or 'subject' is the actual class you'll attend in the process of completing a course.

Most courses have a mixture of compulsory 'core' units that you need to take, and optional 'elective' units that you can choose to take based on your area of interest, expertise or experience.

How to apply for this course

When you're ready to apply:

  2. Submit a TAFE Direct Entry Application form
  3. As part of the application you may need to complete extra requirements such as:
    • submit supplementary forms
    • attend an interview, audition, information session or workshop
    • submit a folio
    • sit a test

    Details about extra requirements are available from the Faculty of Technical and Trades Innovation.

    You need to complete all extra requirements by the given dates, otherwise your application may not be considered.
