Gain the skills and knowledge to become a personal trainer in the fitness industry.

You will learn to:

  • employ a broad range of exercise science principles
  • undertake a postural analysis to evaluate a client's posture
  • determine muscle strength and weakness to develop an exercise program

You will also learn to maintain and demonstrate the use of a broad range of fitness equipment to enhance the fitness of your clients.

The course provides advanced training for those employed, or seeking employment as an Aerobic, Fitness or Aquatic Instructor.

Students must complete 4 elective units selected by the student, in consultation with his/her employer, with the approval of the Head of School, having regard to the list of relevant units in the -

-Qualifications Framework for the National Fitness Industry Training Package SRS03 (Version 2.00);

-Victorian Purchase Guide, SRS03, Fitness Industry Training Package (Version 2.00); and

-Any other nationally endorsed Industry Training Package related to the industry.

Students may be required to complete Certificate III in Fitness to complete all pre-requisite units. This qualification is one semester full time (18 weeks). Full-time.

What's a unit?

A unit or 'subject' is the actual class you'll attend in the process of completing a course.

Most courses have a mixture of compulsory 'core' units that you need to take, and optional 'elective' units that you can choose to take based on your area of interest, expertise or experience.

  • TAFE: Not applicable
  • Year 12: VTAC with successful completion of VCE or equivalent Profile Form
  • International: Not applicable
  • Mature: VTAC Direct admission Relevant Industry experience

  3. As part of the application you may need to complete extra requirements such as:
    • submit supplementary forms
    • attend an interview, audition, information session or workshop
    • submit a folio
    • sit a test

    You need to complete all extra requirements by the given dates, otherwise your application may not be considered.
