To achieve the qualification, a total of 11 units consisting of 3 core units , 6 specialist units and 2 elective units must be successfully achieved. The two elective units may be selected from the specialist and elective units list within the Training Package or may include any unit of competency packaged at Certificate III level from any endorsed Training Package. Electives must be relevant to the work outcome, local industry requirements and the qualification level.
VETiS Programs
Program consists of 14 units to be successfully achieved
Units 1 and 2: three compulsory and five electives
Units 3 and 4: six compulsory units

A unit or 'subject' is the actual class you'll attend in the process of completing a course.
Most courses have a mixture of compulsory 'core' units that you need to take, and optional 'elective' units that you can choose to take based on your area of interest, expertise or experience.
