Certificate II in Electrotechnology Studies (Pre-Vocational)

Learn basic hand and electrotechnology skills such assembling a power supply unit and fluoro lights, as well as the basics of electrical theory needed to prepare you for entry into an apprenticeship. This course provides eight months off your school curriculum to complete the course.

Course Objectives

This course is a prevocational program that will enable students to gain employment as an apprentice or trainee within the electrotechnology industry.

Core Units of Study

Elective Units of Study

To achieve the award of a Certificate II in Electrotechnology Studies (Pre-vocational) participants must successfully complete 14 units of competency consisting of: − all 12 core units; and − any 2 elective units.

What's a unit?

A unit or 'subject' is the actual class you'll attend in the process of completing a course.

Most courses have a mixture of compulsory 'core' units that you need to take, and optional 'elective' units that you can choose to take based on your area of interest, expertise or experience.

Admission Information

  • TAFE: To qualify for admission to this course students will need to be assessed by the Department as being capable of successfully completing the course; or a combination of educational and life experience
  • Year 12: To qualify for admission to this course students will need to be assessed by the Department as being capable of successfully completing the course; or a combination of educational and life experience
  • Mature: To qualify for admission to this course students will need to be assessed by the Department as being capable of successfully completing the course; or a combination of educational and life experience

  3. As part of the application you may need to complete extra requirements such as:
    • submit supplementary forms
    • attend an interview, audition, information session or workshop
    • submit a folio
    • sit a test

    Details about extra requirements are available from the Faculty of Technical and Trades Innovation.

    You need to complete all extra requirements by the given dates, otherwise your application may not be considered.
