Become a qualified Engineering Technologist with strong theoretical and practical training in the areas of electrical and electronic engineering.  You will be responsible for:

  • electricity generation and distribution
  • the design of complex electronic equipment
  • the management of large industrial manufacturing plants
  • researching and developing new energy sources
  • designing and managing communications infrastructure (telephones, radio, TV and the internet)

The Bachelor of Engineering Science course is delivered using a Problem Based Learning approach. You will learn to work with real problems and projects in the workplace and community.

Course Objectives

The objectives of the course are to produce graduates who:

Business/Technical electives can be chosen from The School of Engineering and Science or from other Faculties within the university with approval from the course co-ordinator.

What's a unit?

A unit or 'subject' is the actual class you'll attend in the process of completing a course.

Most courses have a mixture of compulsory 'core' units that you need to take, and optional 'elective' units that you can choose to take based on your area of interest, expertise or experience.

Credits

Each unit is worth a set amount of study credits based on the amount of time you study. Generally, 1 credit is equal to 1 hour of study per week.

Admission Information

  • TAFE: Applicant with relevant VET qualification may be granted up to 192 credit points of exemption.
  • Year 12: Pre-requisites: Units 3 and 4 – a study score of at least 20 in English (any) and in one of further mathematics, mathematical methods (CAS) or specialist mathematics. Selection mode: CY12: ATAR and two-stage process with a middle-band of approximately 20%. NONY12: Academic record (see institutional page). Middle-band: Completing physics and/ or specialist mathematics = an aggregate 3 points higher per study, to a maximum of 6 points.
  • International: Full-fee paying international students must have qualifications which are equivalent to those listed above. In addition, they must provide evidence of proficiency in English language: - IELTS -an overall band score of 6+ or equivalent, subject to individual profile
  • Mature: Mature Age applicant will be considered on the case by case basis. RPL may be granted for relevant experience gained in employment.
