Searching for accommodation with a friend - house hunting friends
If you would like to look for accommodation with other students, join the House Hunting Friends group on Facebook. This is where you can meet other students online and help each other find suitable housing.
Getting help finding accommodation - housing mentoring program
If you need more one-on-one assistance with the processes of looking for housing, the Housing Mentor Program is designed for you. Housing Mentors are current VU students trained to provide practical support to students searching for accommodation in Melbourne. Once registered, your name and contact details will be forwarded to one of our Housing Mentors and you will start communicating on-line. Register for a housing mentor.
Become a housing mentor
The Housing Mentor Program is looking for volunteer mentors to support students in their search for housing.
Student Housing Service will provide you with full training and ongoing supervision and support. All students applying will need to meet the following selection criteria:
- be a currently enrolled Victoria University student
- lived in Australia for at least 6 months
- have had experience in finding accommodation for yourself
- be interested in assisting new students to find accommodation
- be available to attend training
- be available to assist 2 - 5 hours per week in peak housing times
- be good at working in a team
- be available to attend and provide information about the Housing Mentor Program at University events.
