Victoria University Foundation

The Victoria University Foundation (the Foundation) is a trust established in 1989. The objective of the Foundation is to develop partnerships and secure financial support for the University.

 

Victoria University Foundation mourns Sir Zelman Cowen

The Victoria University Foundation Limited joins all Australians in mourning the death of its Inaugural Patron, Sir Zelman Cowen, AK GCMG GCVO QC.

Sir Zelman’s lifelong commitment to education was demonstrated by his involvement with the Victoria University Foundation. As Chair of the Foundation, he led the University’s efforts in gaining philanthropic support for disadvantaged students. He subsequently agreed to take on the role of Inaugural Patron of the Foundation a commitment he maintained until his death.

Victoria University Foundation Directors wish to publicly acknowledge Sir Zelman for his contribution to the work of the Foundation, the legal profession and the whole Australian community and offer condolences to his family. Read more about Sir Zelman Cowen

About the VU Foundation

VU Foundation is a trust with VU Foundation Limited as the trustee. While a separate entity to Victoria University, the Foundation’s purpose is to support the governing body develop and maintain the University's standards and services. This includes assisting with the development of strategic partnerships and securing financial support for key funding priorities.

The Foundation operates its own accounts and submits separate financial statements to the Australia Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). Management is vested in a Board of Directors, which provides strategic advice on the development of the Foundation, and guidance on fundraising initiatives, priorities and policies. The Foundation does not employ any staff. VU as the parent entity provides staffing support through its Development Office. The Director of Development undertakes the role of Executive Officer of VU Foundation.

As an endorsed deductible gift recipient (with DGR 2 status) all donations to Victoria University Foundation Limited (ABN: 69 012 680 193) are tax deductible and GST exempt.
