Dr Hermione Parsons

Director, Institute for Supply Chain and Logistics
Dr Hermione Parsons is the Director of the Institute for Supply Chain and Logistics at Victoria University.
Dr Parson’s PhD investigated corporate retail supply chains and structural adjustment in the fresh fruit and vegetable industry, and her thesis resulted in a $13 million investment to support restructuring in Australia’s fresh produce industry.
Prior to joining Victoria University in 2009, Dr Parsons held leadership and executive management positions at the Port of Melbourne Corporation and the Victorian Government’s Department of Innovation Industry and Regional Development.
She has extensive national and international research experience and credentials in economic and systems geography and strategic planning across a a variety of global supply chain and logistics industries.
Dr Parsons has been at the forefront of thinking in Australia in the development of regulatory and pricing systems, supply chain re-engineering and intermodal strategies for freight.
She is a Member of the Victorian Freight and Logistics Council and its Transport and Logistics Workplace Advisory Group.
In addition Dr Parsons chairs the Transport and Logistics Curriculum Management Board and at Victoria University leads the Transport and Logistics Education, Research and Industry Cluster.
