Berwyn Clayton is Director of the Work-based Education Research Centre. She has had over twenty five years experience in the vocational education and training sector. During that time Berwyn has worked as a teacher, curriculum development manager, professional developer, evaluator and researcher in the TAFE sector.
Prior to this position, Berwyn spent ten years as Director of the unique Centre Undertaking Research in Vocational Education (CURVE) at Canberra Institute of Technology.
A founding member of the Australian Vocational Education and Training Research Association, Berwyn was the Association's president from 2000 to 2004.
The Berwyn Clayton Award was established in her name in 2006 which is awarded biennially for Distinguished Service to the Australian Vocational Education and Training Research Association (AVETRA). In 2001 Berwyn was made a Fellow of the Australian College of Educators for her services to education and vocational education research.
Her research expertise and knowledge of vocational education has been acknowledged by her inclusion in national forums such as:
Berwyn has published and presented widely on competency-based assessment and recognition, and professional and organisational development practices in the vocational education and training sector.
