Recognition of Prior Learning

The Learning Pathways Database details the formal, recognised exemption arrangements for a unit(s) of study that the University has approved between certain courses.

These 'Pathways' assist student movement into, through and out of courses in different sectors (ie Vocational Education and Higher Education) or within the same sector.

If you have successfully completed another course in Vocational Education (TAFE, VET, overseas vocational training) or Higher Education-Australia and/or overseas - while/before studying at VU, check the site to see if there exists credits from your course to another VU course. Please note the existence of a pathway does NOT guarantee entry into a course. To apply for a VU Course click Application.

Recognition of Prior Learning

If a pathway does NOT exist on this site between a course that you have attempted/completed then you need to lodge a 'Recognition for Prior Learning' form with your application or at a later date, together with full academic transcripts and a detailed course syllabus, including subject descriptions, details of assessment and the duration of each subject.

To apply for Recognition of Prior Learning, please complete the relevant RPL forms.
