What is MY TIMETABLE?

MY TIMETABLE is the University's online allocation system for VU students.  The system is powered by Allocate + technology and can be accessed from any computer that has access to a web browser.

Through MY TIMETABLE you are able to browse the available timeslots of all activities for the Units of Study in which you are enrolled.  You can then specify your personal preferences for those timeslots you wish to attend.

MY TIMETABLE is not a 'first-come-first-served' system.  The system collects, ranks and sorts student's preferences to create a clash-free timetable.  You can access the system from anywhere, manage your own timetable, on your own time.

Who can use MY TIMETABLE?

MY TIMETABLE is compulsory for all students enrolled in Higher Education units studying on campus in Melbourne.  MY TIMETABLE is not available to students studying from the Vocational or Further Education Faculties.

How do I access MY TIMETABLE?

  1. Access to MY TIMETABLE is through the MYVU Portal.  Log on to the Portal using your User ID, which is your Student ID number.  Your default password is your date of birth (DOB) in the DDMMYY format, e.g. if your birthdate is 19 February 1985, your default password would be 190285

  2. You can log onto the MYVU Portal at this address www.vu.edu.au/students (click on the MYVU Portal icon)

How does MY TIMETABLE work?

Your current enrolment details are shown down the Left-hand side of the screen.  Each Unit of Study lists the activity group/s for that unit (eg: Lectures, Tutorials, Workshops, Laboratories and Practicals).  All you need to do is select and enter the required number of attendance times in your order of preference.

Preference Entry Mode

In this mode you select the activity times you would prefer to attend.  You can browse the available timeslots of all the activities for the Units of Study in which you are enrolled and specify the timeslots you would prefer to attend.  These preferences are later sorted and allocated by the Preference Sort run.  Your timetable will be available when the system opens again in Allocation Adjustment mode.  If you make no further amendments to your timetable, then this will be your final clash free timetable.

Please Note:  A preference entry system does not mean 'first-come-first-served'.  Students can enter their preferences from anywhere at anytime while Preference Entry mode is open and be confident that their preferences will be considered fairly.

Entering Preferences

When you select an activity group, you will be shown a grid of the available timeslots.   To register your preferences, you must place a number between 1 and 10 in the boxes provided, in your preferred order.  The number one (1) indicates this is your first preference, two (2) is your second preference and so on.  The minimum number of preferences required is displayed when you select the group.

Priority Preference Considerations

If, due to medical reasons, you would like consideration for particular class times, please register with Disability Services

Allocation Adjustment Mode

In Allocation Adjustment mode you have the ability to alter your allocation.  You can view your allocations online and then amend them, providing there are vacancies in that activity.  Allocation Adjustment mode is first-come-first-served & provides you with an instant reallocation.

Students who did not allocate during Preference Entry mode or have not been allocated an activity, for any reason, may use Allocation Adjustment  to select from remaining seats.  Clash detection is operational throughout this process.

You may view your allocations at anytime by clicking on "My Timetable".
