The wearing of academic dress on ceremonial occasions is one of the features of the tradition attached to universities. Throughout the Commonwealth, it is common for universities to follow the style of Oxford or Cambridge universities in the design of academic dress. Victoria University has based its academic dress on the basic style of Oxford. For examples of academic dress view gown, hood or stole and cap.
