Melbourne Food and Wine Festival

Victoria University is pleased to present the 2012 Feasting in Footscray program, part of the 20th annual Melbourne Food & Wine Festival.

Feasting in Footscray is delivered by a consortium of government, industry and community stakeholders including Victoria University, Maribyrnong City Council, Footscray Community Arts Centre, Footscray Traders Association and Foodbank Victoria. The consortium is building on the success of the 2011 program of events.

As part of the Festival, the Feasting in Footscray program will feature eleven culinary-based events throughout Melbourne's western region; promoting cultural diversity and providing industry-based learning for Victoria University students.

The program focuses on community development and collaboration through promotion and engagement in activities that build strong communities and contribute to the economy. Feasting in Footscray and MFWF provide a framework to improve relationships and forge stronger links between local businesses, government, industry and the University.

The Office of Industry and Community Engagement is delivering this project in conjunction with various University departments to ensure sustainable engagement in the region, and to improve the job readiness of students through learning in the workplace and community opportunities.

The Melbourne Food & Wine Festival is an internationally recognised festival that brings together world-famous chefs and the local community to celebrate the wonderful world of food, and its power to bring people of diverse backgrounds together to share their experiences.
