Overview

The Traffic Controller Skill Set is designed for individuals who manage traffic at construction or roadwork sites. You will gain a solid understanding of the hazards present when working close to traffic as well as learn how to manage traffic safely on worksites.

Short course dates and times: 
10–11 October 2019 8am–4pm Two days
12–13 December 2019 8am–4pm Two days

You will also develop skills in the following areas:

  • workplace communication
  • work safety and WHS policies and procedures
  • traffic control using a stop/slow bat.

Careers

Upon completion of this qualification you will have the skills and knowledge to enter the civil construction industry as:

  • a work zone traffic controller

Course contents

In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment for the RIISS00044 Work Zone Traffic Control - Traffic Controller Skill Set, a student must successfully undertake the following unit(s):

CORE UNITS

Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Credit Transfers

Previous completion of units at the Polytechnic or any other Registered Training Organisation and/or previous attainment of skills and knowledge may be credited towards this course.

Admission requirements

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course.

Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

Prior to enrolment, all applicants will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment to assist with determining eligibility and to identify learning support needs.
