Develop your welding techniques for sculptural projects.

The fundamentals of Gas Metal Arc (MiG) Manual Metal Arc (Arc) and oxy-Fuel gas welding processes will be covered.

Learn the applications and benefits of these processes through the design and fabrication of your own works of art.

Discover scrap metal and methods for identifying metals and surface preparation of scrap welding.

Short course dates and times: 
4 April – 13 June 2019 5.30–9.30pm Thursday evening classes
15 August – 17 October 2019 5.30–9.30pm Thursday evening classes

Learning outcomes

This course allows successful students to fabricate and gain a basic understanding of sculptural welding. 

Students will gain fundamental techniques and OHS practices using arc and mig welders and oxy-acetylene.

Admission requirements

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course.

Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

Student must bring their own personal protective equipment, such as:

  • Safety glasses
  • Work boots
  • Overalls
