Overview

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to plan and design a wearable object or app. This unit introduces the type of agile development processes used in the industry and will provide an opportunity to apply the basics of good app design. It provides the opportunity to benchmark best practice in app design and learn the basics of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design.

Assessment

For Melbourne campuses

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce & extend knowledge and skill competence within set & controlled parameters in accordance with each unit’s learning outcomes & performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.

Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills:

  • Describe good design practises incorporating industry benchmarks and best practise for agile development processes and design requirements for wearable objects and apps
  • Design a basic app or wearable object and present results in a design brief

Required reading

The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by the Victoria University and/or via the Victoria University e-learning system.
