Workplace programs
The Centre coordinates workplace learning in three areas:
- Cooperative education or 'Co-op' offers a year of paid, full-time employment (minimum 40 weeks) as the third year of a four-year business degree. Students undertake a preparation program during the second year of study, and enter the workplace the following year. It is compulsory for Tourism and Hospitality students.
- Business integrated learning (BIL) recognises industry-based experiences such as relevant project work, part-time employment, a holiday job or even voluntary work undertaken while completing your qualifications in all Business courses (except Hospitality and Tourism Management, where Co-operative Education is a requirement). BIL is mandatory for students undertaking Event Management courses.
- Professional legal practice is 150 hours of activities related to the legal profession in one or more work environments. You gain on-the-job experience within the legal profession or broader work settings, such as business, government, community organisations, and parliament. Roles can vary from seasonal clerkships to project work and other paralegal roles.

Student societies and associations
Current students may like to look into joining the following societies and associations:
- Accounting, Finance and Investment Student Society (AFISS) for VU Accounting and Finance students. It's a student group that provides services and events to develop your professional and personal growth to equip you with essential skills for the workforce. We also aim to give you the best possible university life experience.
- Young Tourism Network (YTN) is a Victorian member based networking group run by a committee of volunteers. The group represents members in all tourism related fields such as travel, leisure, hospitality, marketing, public relations, events, attractions and tour operators. In addition to providing you with networking opportunities, the YTN fosters career development of young people within the tourism industry. It does this through professional development and networking events and by promoting industry wide collaboration.
- The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILTA). The Youth arm of CILTA is Accelerate. It's involved with organising and coordinating activities that bring members together to network, learn and gain exposure to mentors, career development and other opportunities available in the industry. CILTA also run a Women Moving Forward Mentoring Program.
