The academic calendar is a great resource for you, and includes important study dates in 2013 such as Census, semester start and end dates, examination periods and graduation ceremonies.

Study dates

  • Semester 1: 25 February to 24 May
  • Winter Option: 3 June to 12 July
  • Semester 2: 22 July to 18 October
  • Summer Option 2013/14: 11 November 2013 to 31 January 2014

Semester breaks

  • Semester 1 mid-semester break: 03 April to 5 April
  • Mid-year break: 24 June to 19 July
  • Semester 2 mid-semester break: 23 September to 27 September

Note: All break dates are provisional and subject to local confirmation. Students must confirm dates for their specific course with relevant department.

Fee dates

Timely enrolment amendment dates

  • Summer Option: 4 January
  • Semester 1: 15 March
  • Winter Option: 12 June
  • Semester 2: 24 August

Note: Penalty charges may apply for enrolment changes made after the timely amendment dates.

Census dates

  • Summer Option: 13 January
  • Semester 1: 31 March
  • Winter Option: 15 June
  • Semester 2: 31 August

Note: Census dates correct at time of publication. If a census date falls on a weekend or public holiday you must ensure that you have finalised your enrolment and fees no later than the last working day before the census date.

Commonwealth Assistance Notice (CAN)

CANs are released three to four weeks after census date, and there is a two-week period to query a CAN if it is incorrect at release. The last dates to query CANs are:

  • Summer Option: 24 February
  • Semester 1: 10 May 2013
  • Winter Option: 27 July
  • Semester 2: 12 October

Exams

  • SWOTVAC: 27 May to 31 May
  • Semester 1 examinations: 03 June to 21 June
  • Release of results: 8 July
  • SWOTVAC: 21 October to 25 October
  • Semester 2 examinations: 28 October to 15 November
  • Release of results: 25 November

Graduations

  • Offshore graduation (Kuala Lumpur): TBC
  • First round onshore graduation ceremonies: 27 May to 31 May
  • Offshore graduation (Beijing): TBC
  • Second round onshore graduation ceremonies: 21 October to 25 October

Public holidays

  • New Year's Day: 1 January
  • Australia Day: 28 January
  • Labour Day: 11 March (Higher Education classes still conducted)
  • Good Friday: 29 March
  • Easter: 1 to 2 April
  • ANZAC Day: 25 April

  • Boxing Day: 26 December
