Language, Literacy and Numeracy strategy

Language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) is a key component of VU's social inclusion strategy, ensuring students develop:

  • the capability necessary to succeed in their Victoria University courses
  • the skills they will need for further learning and for their future careers.

We oversee the implementation of this strategy, including the employment of Faculty Liaison Officers.

Students Supporting Student Learning

Students Supporting Student Learning (SSSL) is about students learning from other students. Student mentors are selected to provide academic support through student-led study sessions across different units and courses.

You will find student rovers at VU's libraries and learning commons.

For more information, explore SSSL on SNAPVU.

SNAPVU

SNAPVU is the latest addition to online learning support at VU.

It is a social learning site where you can:

  • create a profile and get resources recommended to you based on your study interests
  • personalise your pages
  • ask and answer other students questions on the discussion forum
  • read and comment on blogs
  • watch and rate videocasts made by other Victoria University students
  • create and join online study groups
  • find out how you can get involved in students supporting student learning

Student Learning Hub

This online tool is designed to support and improve general and subject-specific academic study, writing, maths and English skills, and houses a collection of useful materials.

Explore the Student Learning Hub.

Workshops

Free special workshops are timetabled on specific dates, and weekly support sessions are held on various subjects. Study labs offer places for students to work with computers, as well as access to study resources and assistance from teachers.

Individual consultations can be booked to see a language and learning skills lecturer who can help you with your studies.
