Register your interest in the study 'High-intensity interval training in hypoxia on muscle mitochondrial signalling in young adults.'

We are seeking volunteers over 18 years of age with a BMI of 35 kg/m² or less to participate in a training study. This research will explore how HIIT, conducted in normoxia or hypoxia, impacts fitness levels (aerobic performance and leg strength), mitochondrial biogenesis (function and content), and body composition (body fat percentage and lean muscle mass) in young adults.

Participation will involve attending exercise testing sessions and exercise training sessions at Victoria University, Footscray Park, over an 8–16 week period.

To take part in the study, and receive the benefits of free health and fitness testing, participants need to meet the following criteria:

  • aged 18 - 40 years with BMI less than or equal to 35 kg/m2
  • not currently having any metabolic diseases, for example, blood pressure, insulin-sensitising medications, and hormone replacement therapy
  • no medical contraindications to intense physical activity and painful joints.
