In this unit, you will investigate the breakthrough technologies transforming global communication and connectivity. You will study how artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and edge computing enhance the speed, adaptability, and intelligence of modern networks. Through analytical exploration and collaborative design, you will model next-generation systems that operate efficiently under changing conditions. You will also reflect on how emerging communication technologies influence industry, privacy, and equity, considering technical performance alongside human experience.



By the end of this unit, you will be able to design and evaluate intelligent communication solutions that anticipate future challenges and contribute responsibly to a connected, data-driven world.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Evaluate AI and machine-learning applications for predictive and adaptive communication networks;
  2. Design edge-computing architectures that enhance latency, efficiency, and inclusivity;
