Gillian Elijah
Event coordinator, Trumpet Events

Gillian Elijah is a VU alumna and event coordinator at Trumpet Events. She explains why 75% of the company is made up of VU business graduates, that are industry ready thanks to on-the-job learning.

"Trumpet Events has been working with VU for many years, offering students the opportunity to get hands-on industry experience at a variety of our events. Many of these students have been truly exceptional. They have excellent communications skills, they work hard, and have an eagerness to get real workplace experience.

As an employer, we love VU’s Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program. We get to know the students in our workplace, and we see their capabilities first hand. It’s fantastic to see their passion to help bring an event to life! This has given us confidence to employ VU students on a full-time basis. We can now proudly say that 75% of our workforce are VU graduates.

As a VU graduate myself, my advice to anyone considering Business at VU is to go for it. Take advantage of the fantastic support network that VU provides for you. Chat with your lecturers, get to know the WIL coordinators, attend additional seminars, and dive in head first to any experience that comes your way!"
