Building, engineering & science pathways

If you don’t yet meet the entry requirements to get into your chosen building, engineering or science course, we'll get you there with our study pathways.

'Pathways' let you build on your learning and progress between study levels – often with credit towards a qualification. They can link courses with similar learning, or they may help you to access university or TAFE by teaching you foundational study skills.

By completing a pathway course, and meeting additional entry requirements, you will be guaranteed entry in the 'destination course' listed here.

You will also be granted any credit points noted in brackets towards the destination course. If no credit points are listed, the course guarantees entry only.

Most subjects (units) are equal to 12 credit points. If you're studying full time, you'll usually complete a total of 8 units per year – that's four units in semester one and four in semester two.

As a guide (for full-time study):

  • 12 credit points = one unit (4 weeks)
  • 48 credit points = 4 units (six months)
  • 96 credit points = 8 units (one year)
  • 144 credit points = 12 units (1.5 years)

When you receive credit points towards a course, you have fewer units to complete to get the qualification, saving you time and money.
