Key industry partners

Victoria University (VU) works with a wide variety of external partners on a mutually beneficial basis to deliver real value to both their and our own organisation.

We have clear expertise in the following areas relevant to industry related activity:

  • provision of undergraduates on a variety of work place training scenarios to meet your business needs
  • assistance in both identifying and working with you to access external funding
  • provision of limited sponsorship to mutually beneficial industry related activities
  • offering University facilities and equipment for industry use on an appropriate commercial basis.

In addition to this there are a smaller number of partners with whom we are working to in a strategic way to effect real change to the lives of those both living and working in the West of Melbourne area.

Western Bulldogs

This partnership between Victoria University and the Western Bulldogs is based on a shared commitment to sport, human movement and recreation, and the economic and social wellbeing of the community in Melbourne’s west. To facilitate this Victoria University and the Western Bulldogs will take advantage of the $42 million investment in infrastructure at the Whitten Oval and Footscray Park Campus to promote the economic and social wellbeing of Melbourne’s west.

City West Water

City West Water and Victoria University are engaged in a number of partnerships and agreements. These include a partnership to promote research collaboration in the area of water and sustainability; investigation into PH Neutralisation Salts, their chemistry and their use in industry. A number of Victoria University academics and research student's projects are funded by City West Water.

Western Health

Victoria University and Western Health, two major institutions in Melbourne’s west have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to support joint and combined activities in promoting the health and wellbeing of the residents in the western region of Melbourne.

Toyota

This ongoing partnership is based on research collaboration between Toyota and Victoria University’s Centre for Ageing, Rehabilitation, Exercise and Sport. The research focuses on the multimillion dollar burden of workplace injury. Under the partnership, Victoria University, together with Chisholm TAFE deliver a skills progression program onsite at Toyota’s Altona plant.

Maribyrnong City Council

Active since 2007, this agreement covers the delivery of supervisor and administration training to staff at the Maribyrnong City Council.

Sofitel

Sofitel Melbourne, one of Victoria’s leading five star hotels, provides a range of support for Victoria University students in the school of Hospitality, Tourism and Marketing including prizes, training opportunities and a strategic articulation agreement between the school and the Academy Sofitel. The hotel also supports the school’s research activities and has been a case study for various school publications.

Malthouse Theatre

Our partnership with Malthouse Theatre aims to collaboratively support and promote the Performing Arts. The University provides financial benefits in return for publicity, promotion and other corporate benefits. The Malthouse supports Victoria University’s Performing Arts programs and provides venues for exhibitions and performances; and co-operation in workplace placement and education.

Footscray Community Arts Centre

This long standing relationship between Victoria University and the Arts Centre has involved University staff in various teaching, research and advisory roles. In conjunction with Maribyrnong City Council, Victoria University and the Arts Centre are working to build a new partnership for community cultural development in Melbourne’s west.

University of Melbourne

Victoria University and the University of Melbourne have agreed to enter into a cooperative arrangement to advance the objectives of both Universities. The joint endeavour will include cooperation in the following disciplines; nursing education and research, education and research in exercise science/rehabilitation and physiotherapy, education and research in other health workforce areas, education and research in education and co-operative work on educational transitions between school and vocational and higher education.

Australia Post

Since 2005, the Industrial Skills Training School at Victoria University has delivered customised training in the transport sector to Australia Post employees.

Connex

Established in 1991, this partnership between Connex and Victoria University’s Industrial Skills Training school covers the joint management of Urban Systems Training for the public transport sector.

Victoria University Williamstown Literary Festival

In addition to being the Williamstown Literary Festival’s major sponsor, Victoria University and the festival organising committee work together with Higher Education and TAFE writing students and staff to find meaningful ways students can contribute to and learn from the festival. This includes participating on the organising committee, program design and marketing.

Le Cordon Bleu

VU has recently partnered with Le Cordon Bleu. Our partnership with Le Cordon Bleu will enable us to deliver high quality, internationally recognised culinary training – developing executive chefs and culinary managers for employment in Australia and across the Asia Pacific region.
