Overview

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to maintain personal health and wellbeing by implementing techniques that facilitate improved workplace health and wellbeing, and work-life balance. It also includes the ability to recognise and respond appropriately to health and wellbeing of clients.
It requires the ability to monitor and address own health and wellbeing concerns, and to recognise those of clients and to assist them with relevant treatment or referrals.
This unit applies to workers in personal service environments. In these environments, they make routine service decisions within a defined range.

Assessment

For Melbourne campuses

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce & extend knowledge and skill competence within set & controlled parameters in accordance with each unit’s learning outcomes & performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.

Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills:
• undertake assessment of self and workplace to determine:
• workplace stressors
• causes of fatigue
• work-life balance priorities
• develop and document a personal health and wellbeing plan that outlines techniques for:
• achieving work-life balance
• reducing fatigue
• building resilience
• maintaining stamina
• implement the above plan demonstrating techniques for improved health and wellbeing as listed in the plan
• identify signs of physical and mental health risks and appropriate responses with four clients.

Required reading

The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by VU Polytechnic and/or via the VU Polytechnic e-learning system.
