Diploma of Beauty Therapy WRB50199, Bachelor of Health Science (Dermal Therapies)

Sarah McManus’ love of dermal therapies has seen her move from student to lecturer to clinician with a leading skin technology company.

"I enrolled at VU in 2003 as a mature age student with a passion for wanting to learn about the skin’s behaviour and how I could positively influence it. After completing a Diploma of Beauty Therapy, I operated my own beauty clinic for several years. In 2009, I started a Bachelor of Health Science (Dermal Therapies) to keep up with industry demand for more advanced skin procedures, and have since gone on to complete postgraduate studies.

Throughout my time at VU, I received great mentoring and feedback regarding my academic performance. This helped me to further enhance my skills and abilities within the field, and I attained many awards including Outstanding First Year Student, Outstanding Final Year Student, College of Health Science and Engineering Undergraduate Research Scholarship and the Victoria University Medal for Excellence. These awards gave me the motivation to continue to strive for excellence within my studies and my chosen occupational field.

I'm excited to have taken on a position with Advanced Skin Technology – a major company within my industry.

I have also lectured in Dermal Therapies at VU. It was an amazing experience to be able to give back to the institution that helped shape the person I am today."
