Easton Myat

Easton (Aung) Myat is a lecturer in Early Childhood Education with nearly a decade of teaching experience within the Australian education system. 

He serves as the Unit Convenor for ECE2005 and ECE2004, Engaging with Place through Rethinking Early Childhood Education. He has established strong professional networks with play advocates and is a core member of the VU Play Project. In this capacity, he has led multiple rounds of mentorship and fostered meaningful community connections through Playwork placements.

Easton’s teaching and research are grounded in relational pedagogy and critical engagement. His scholarly work focuses on inclusive education, social justice, and community partnerships within Early Childhood Education. He works closely with marginalised children, families, educators, and communities, ensuring that their lived experiences inform both his research and his contributions to Initial Teacher Education programs.

In addition to his work in Australia, Easton actively contributes to the development of kindergarten services in Myanmar. He plays a significant role as a play advocate, promoting children’s rights through conference presentations and community engagement. He is deeply committed to advocating for individuals and groups marginalised by structural inequalities within broader policy and educational systems, with the aim of advancing equity and social justice for all learners.
