A thesis is a major component of the assessment in a research degree. Your thesis is examined by external examiners and determines the final result in your degree.

Victoria University recognises three broad thesis formats:

  • Standard thesis – a single monograph that contains a series of interlinked chapters reporting on the research.
  • Thesis by creative project – a creative work and an accompanying critical reflective written work. See the guidelines on thesis by creative project.
  • Thesis by publication – a number of high quality Papers together with framing, linking and concluding material. See the  guidelines on thesis by publication.
