Overview

This fee-free short course will provide you with the knowledge and skills for an entry-level position as a critical environment technician in the fast-growing datacentre industry.

You will learn fundamental IT skills, such as:

  • an overview of datacentres
  • power management in dense computing environments
  • management of airflow and cooling
  • fire suppression systems
  • routine maintenance processes
  • vendor management
  • sustainability practices
  • datacentre security.

Upon completing this course, you will be issued a Certificate of Participation for the THACR Critical Environment Technician.

 

Entry requirements

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course.

Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

Course structure

Attendance is required 3 days a week at our Footscray Nicholson campus between 9am–4pm. 

You'll also need to complete 2 hours of independent learning per week.
