Victoria University Polytechnic proud to announce partnership with Western United
Victoria University (VU) Polytechnic has announced the inaugural A-League Women’s team as part of its Western United partnership.
As a foundation member of the club, VU Polytechnic has been a key part of Western United’s growth. Initially supporting the men’s program, VU’s logo will now proudly be emblazoned on the sleeves of the men’s and women’s players for the 2022/2023 A-League season.
VU & Western United thrilled to expand partnership
Chris Speldewinde, Western United’s General Manager Commercial, is thrilled to see the partnership continue to grow:
VU Polytechnic have been such incredible partners from year 1 of our journey. To have the support across A-League Men’s and now A-League Women’s is truly incredible. The partnership gives so much opportunity for both young men and women by offering a variety of different courses, where our players and staff can benefit.
We love working with VU as they have been providing a path for students in the West, like Western United providing a platform for people to be their very best on and off the pitch.
Western United and VU share the same commitment to advancing women and girls in sport, especially with this pathway now into A-League Women’s competition.
VU prides itself on delivering education, and workplace development opportunities to everyone in our community, to the benefit of students, local industries and workplaces and grass roots league clubs.
Dianne Semmes, VU’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Vocational Education, says:
There are no boundaries to what women and girls can achieve in sport and in education. We are thrilled to support the inaugural women’s team as they embark on their first season in the competition, cementing themselves in history as the first A-League Women’s soccer team for Melbourne’s west.
VU Polytechnic has a strong presence in the region, providing exceptional educational opportunities at our Werribee and Sunshine campuses that, like WUFC, will help shape the future of our state and people. It is clear that Western United shares our passion for the west and its incredible potential, ensuring we are inclusive and bring people along with us. We look forward to maximising our partnership across the 2022/2023 Season.
VU Polytechnic looks forward to continuing to work with the club for the development of young people in the community as they strive to create a better future.
