Student nominations for University Council

Nominations are open from 2 to 12 July 2018 for a student position on the VU Council.

This is an opportunity to be more involved in university life, and to bring an important student perspective and experience to University decision-making.

Council is the governing body accountable for the strategic direction of the University.

Council membership includes ex-officio members, government and council appointed members, and elected members. Members must act in the interest of the whole University rather than that of their constituencies.

Vacancy

The vacancy is for one student, who will be elected for a two-year term.

The term will commence once duly elected and will cease on 31 July 2020.

Eligibility

To be eligible to nominate for this position on Council, you must:

  • be enrolled in a minimum of a 0.5 fraction of the fulltime study load applicable to an award course at a Victorian campus of the University, both at the time of nomination and for the duration of the term; and
  • be a resident in Victoria.

Nomination process & form

You need to complete all sections of the nomination form, and you can also include a policy statement of up to 400 words.

Important dates for Council student election

  • Nominations open: Monday 2 July 2018 at 9:00am AEST
  • Nominations close: Thursday 12 July 2018 at 5:00pm AEST (all nominations must be received by Governance and Secretariat by this time)
  • Election opens: 9am AEST, Monday 23 July 2018 (if more than one nomination is received)
  • Election closes: at 4pm AEST, Friday 3 August 2018
