Calling all VU students, staff, and alumni! Got a passion for art? Want to showcase your creativity? We’re inviting you to be part of our vibrant, week-long art exhibition at Footscray Park.

From stunning visual art to live performances, this is your chance to shine. We’re kicking off with an exciting opening night on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

The week is packed with events, including:

our opening night, featuring awards and live performances from VU students
interactive arts workshops at Footscray Park, Footscray Nicholson and the City Tower
live music performances by VU Students and free food

Plus, we’ve got pop-up surprises and creative workshops sprinkled throughout the week— there’s something for everyone!

Kick off the festival with an evening full of art, music, and good vibes! Here’s what’s in store:
Art fair – discover amazing student artwork, from paintings and sculptures to unique artifacts.
Awards ceremony – featuring a Welcome to Country and an exciting awards ceremony judged by our prestigious panel of judges.
Live music – enjoy the music of student bands.

: Get tangled in creativity! This drop-in workshop invites all ages to explore the art of weaving stories with simple, sustainable materials. Using cardboard and yarn, participants will craft individual textured pieces that come together to form a vibrant, collective "magic carpet" installation—a celebration of imagination, connection, and community.

These workshops are hosted by local artist and VU student Mito Elias.
: Discover the creativity of VU students who painted the Vietnamese conical hats during the "Paint Your Conical Hat" workshop organised by the Vietnamese Interclub of Victoria University (VIVU).
View the display and learn about the origins, history and styles of Nón lá.

: Showcase your creative side by submitting a work to be displayed at our Opening Night Gallery! Submissions are open now for students, staff and alumni from all disciplines. You can submit multiple works of any media to be judged, with gift card prizes up for grabs for top three Winners of the night,
Works will be judged by a variety of VU internal arts staff and external artists.

: Have a side hustle or small business you’d like to share. Express your interest to have a stall our Makers Market, happening during our Opening Night on Tuesday 7 October.
Stall holders must be able to accept card, and have an ABN set up.
