Overview

This unit describes the skills and knowledge to identify, implement and review personal goals with support. It includes the ability to complete tasks which contribute to achievement of personal goals and review and adjust goals. This unit applies to learners with intellectual disability who wish to identify and implement personal goals. Learners at this level will require high levels of teacher/mentor support.

Assessment

For Melbourne campuses

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce & extend knowledge and skill competence within set & controlled parameters in accordance with each unit’s learning outcomes & performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.

Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills:

  • work with a support person to identify two personal goals, including recording the goals, following simple steps to implement at least one of the goals and reviewing progress towards achievement of the goal/s.

Required reading

The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by the Victoria University and/or via the Victoria University e-learning system.
