Overview

This unit describes the skills and knowledge to investigate how digital learning can support educational outcomes. This unit applies to learners who need to develop their knowledge of the education environment in preparation for entry into and participation in an undergraduate teacher education course.

Assessment

For Melbourne campuses

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce & extend knowledge and skill competence within set & controlled parameters in accordance with each units learning outcomes & performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.

Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills:
• access and analyse information about the technologies used in the education environment to support teaching and student learning including examining:

  • the relationship between the technologies and pedagogies
  • the impact of the technologies on teaching and learning
  • implications for digital safety
  • opportunities to improve own digital learning knowledge and skill
    • examine a piece of technology currently being used in education

Required reading

The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by the VU Polytechnic and/or via the VU Polytechnic e-learning system.
