CPCPSN3026 - Install sewerage pumpsets

Overview
The unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to install sewerage pumps including installing and testing small bore macerators.
Assessment
For Melbourne campuses
Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce & extend knowledge and skill competence within set & controlled parameters in accordance with each unit’s learning outcomes & performance criteria requirements, incl the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.
Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills:
* installing a small-bore macerator including rising main to an approved point of discharge
* using a submersible sewerage pump and correctly installing pump on an approved base
* ensuring correct operation of pump, float valves and alarm functions.
Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge:
* methods of fixing techniques
* levelling and alignment processes
* performance measures for various sewerage pumpsets:
* small bore macerators
* submersible pumps
* properties of sewerage
* tools and equipment used to install sewerage pumpsets including lifting and load-shifting equipment
* how to access relevant information, including codes and standards
* work health and safety (WHS) requirements for installing sewerage pumpsets.
Required reading
The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by Victoria University and/or via the Victoria University e-learning system.
