Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education
Walaa had a degree in secondary education but knew she wanted to teach younger children. She finds it a joy to chat with children at this unique age and see things from their perspective. With the one-year Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Walaa balanced work and study and is now a qualified early childhood educator.

"I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education at Western Sydney University, then moved to Melbourne. I wanted to find a course that would allow me to move from secondary to early childhood education.

"After a lot of research, I chose the Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education at Victoria University. The course is one year and is focused on the educational development of children in the first five years of their lives.

"I worked full time at Islamic College of Melbourne during the course, and the online classes fit well around my work schedule. The placement component of the course was 60 days, and I did it through the school holidays. During my placements, I received good support and communication from the teachers and partnerships team.
"I have just completed my course and I am confident that I am ready to become an early childhood teacher. In the future I would like to do a PhD in the field of child development or early childhood education."
