When Macey McMillan was considering a career change from the world of finance to the business of sport, she discovered VU’s postgraduate sport integrity course was the perfect fit.
“I’d been working in banking and finance for eight years when I began pursuing my interest in the sports industry. I had previously completed my Bachelor Business (Banking and Finance) at VU, and enjoyed the environment that the University offered, so it was my first choice.
The Master of Sport Business and Integrity curriculum sounded perfect for me. And being a massive soccer fan, the connection to the Real Madrid Graduate School Universidad intrigued me, too.
The study tour to Spain was one of the most enjoyable things about the course. It was fascinating and eye-opening, and I made friends and industry connections I’ll have for life.
I planned to finish the course while continuing to work in finance, and then change career into sports after graduating.
However, after first semester, I saw the perfect job advertised at the AFL, so I applied and was offered the role. So while completing the course, I was also gaining experience working in the industry, which had tremendous value for my career.
I’ve since joined Racing Victoria as the Licensing and Administration Coordinator, Integrity Services.”
