How VU prepared Annelyse for the real world
Through practical industry subjects, VU gave me the confidence to work as part of a team to support the delivery of large-scale projects and I gained invaluable knowledge from my course which allowed me to stand out, even as an undergrad.

Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours)
The supportive learning environment and practical focus of VU’s Construction Management degree gave Annelyse Carter a head start in the fast-paced construction industry.
“I chose VU for the style of learning on offer. Classes are taught with a project-based approach, and an emphasis on making sure everyone’s learning needs are met. I had tremendous support and encouragement from my peers, subject tutors and lecturers.
The subjects at VU taught me how projects are delivered in the real world through case studies and industry relevant assessments. This made me a better employee because I could link what I had learnt in class with real problems in the industry. My degree developed my technical understanding of the infrastructure environment and allowed me to stand out, even as an undergrad.
While studying, I was lucky enough to receive a job offer from Aurecon, a global engineering consultancy group. This has been an incredible experience, especially being able to work within the Project Advisory team. I love that I get to see a project through from start to finish and contribute to problem solving along the way. The opportunity to travel around Australia for some of my projects is also exciting.
VU and Aurecon have taught me to challenge the status quo and think outside the box.”
