Rene Nogueira
Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Laws
With two degrees from VU, Rene Nogueira has forged a career around roles that require engineering and legal mindsets.
"The highlight of my courses was the intensive teachings, which forced me to grow up and take responsibility for my life and build the future that I desired. This mentality also inspired us to bond with peers and create teams to assist each other. It was a fun and energetic environment that enabled minds to grow.
The Footscray Park and City Queen campuses are very unique. The location, environment and lecturers were just as unique as the campus and the diverse cultural background of the students offered a wealth of great minds and memorable, life-changing experiences.
VU ensures that you have and gain practical experience, not just academic, and embraces and supports you to complete overseas exchange programs. During my studies I was offered a VU scholarship to The Hague University to complete my Bachelor of Laws. This program was a priceless experience in which I was lectured by international law experts from the UN and international tribunals of the world courts.
After graduating I became the commercial manager of a multibillion dollar program, managing the level crossing removals program for Metro Trains Melbourne which used both my engineering and legal mindsets to solve problems.
