An MBA fit for a CEO
The MBA gave me a holistic understanding and appreciation of the functions of business across an organisation. We were encouraged to make connections with industry and apply learning to real business situations.
Maxwell Gratton
Bachelor of Sport Management, Master of Business Administration
Maxwell Gratton used his MBA to ‘power up’ his career to become a CEO in two of Melbourne's greatest exports - sport and the arts.
"I originally chose to enrol in Victoria University's Bachelor of Arts (Sports Administration) because it placed equal emphasis on business and sport. After working in the sport and recreation field for a few years I returned to study an MBA to enhance my career prospects.
The MBA gave me a holistic understanding and appreciation of the functions of business across an organisation. We were encouraged to make connections with industry and apply learning to real business situations. The curriculum was well-rounded and the program had excellent teaching staff, great facilities and being based in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD was a bonus. Being recognised as Victoria University’s Most Outstanding MBA student was very gratifying."
The MBA laid the groundwork for professional success and inspired me to take the next step in my career.
"I had worked my way up in a number of roles at Football Federation Victoria, and after gaining my MBA I was promoted to CEO, before moving into the top job of Basketball ACT. I am now CEO of Melbourne Queer Film Festival (MQFF), a major highlight in Melbourne's arts and cultural events calendar."
