New Colombo Plan Scholarship

The New Colombo Plan scholarship gives you the opportunity to live, work and study in the Indo-Pacific region.

The New Colombo Plan (NCP) Scholarship Program is an Australian Government initiative that provides Australian students with funding to study and undertake language training, an internship or a mentorship in one of 38 participating Indo-Pacific locations. The scholarships offer a generous financial package covering, among other benefits -  tuition fees for academic and language study; travel and establishment allowances and a monthly stipend for living costs.

Eligibility

To be considered for the NCP Scholarship, you must:

  • be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree at Victoria University
  • have completed one year of undergraduate study at the time of departure
  • be between 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) for non-Indigenous applicants, or between 18 to 35 (inclusive) for Indigenous applicants on 1 January 2027
  • have room in your course for a Semester Exchange program
  • be an Australian citizen.

To submit a formal application for the NCP Scholarship Program, you must be nominated by VU. You will need to apply through the VU process in order to be nominated.

Apply for VU nomination

To apply you need email us the following completed forms and documents:

  • Application form including your proposed scholarship plan
    • Location
    • Length of program
    • Possible university options
    • Language training
    • Internships
  • Course planning form filled out and signed by CUA or VU HQ staff
  • Curriculum vitae/resume. 

Assessment & selection

You will be assessed by Victoria University and we will nominate our candidates for the scholarship.

We will assess your CV and an application made by video, considering:

  • academic excellence at the tertiary level
  • ability to contribute to NCP strategic objectives and outcomes
  • leadership and engagement in the community
  • adaptability and resilience.
