Victoria University’s strong reputation for providing students opportunities to develop their leadership skills was celebrated at the annual Student Leadership Awards held on 26 September at Footscray Community Arts Centre.
The awards celebrate students for their leadership roles in co-curricular and extracurricular activities which have made a demonstrable impact at VU and/or the wider community.
Opened by Chancellor George Pappas, the event was attended by nearly 200 students, staff and special guests who were entertained and moved by the speeches of award recipients.
Keynote speaker and VU alumni Rachel Hanley spoke about her journey as an unlikely leader and how participating in extracurricular activities at VU changed her life.
Many students spoke about their journey as a leader and how grateful they are for the opportunities VU offers its students.
